The SLF´s Rehabilitation Center - Æfingastöðin - currently provides physical and occupational therapy to almost 800 children. Most of our clients are children and youth with motor developmental delays or motor impairments. Some do also have ADHD, autistic spectrum disorders, mental retardation or other conditions. Through collaboration, education and therapy we aim to maximize each child´s potential and participation to enriching their quality of life.

The SLF's Rehabilitation Center works in partnership with several other organizations providing services to children with disabilities and their families, such as the State Diagnostic and Counseling Center, The National Children's hospital, The Community Health and Social Services and Sjónarhóll - Counseling Center, in order to ensure coordinated and comprehensive services and support.

The SLF´s Rehabilitation Center provides individual and group-based services. It has excellent facilities,operates a swimming pool, a gym and a Hippotherapy. Services are also available at other locations such as private homes, schools, preschools and child care centers. Staff members number 38 in total, including physical therapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistants. They collaborate closely with other service providers.

The practice is financed by allocations from the Ministry of Welfare and is also funded by donations, corporate giving, bequests and fundraising activities.
