The first Fun run event was in 1993. The past years there have been over 2500 runners each year.
The Fun Run starts at 12:00 pm (GMT) and you can choose whether you run 3 km or the shorter distance of 1.7 km during the start.
This is an event for all ages and is filled with entertainment along the route.
The Course
The run starts at the same place as other distances, on Sóleyjargata and ends at Lækjargata, in front of the school Menntaskólinn við Reykjavík. The course is as follows:
3K - main route: Sóleyjargata, Gamla Hringbraut, Smáragata, Njarðargata, Laufásvegur, Grundarstígur, Bjargarstígur, Þingholtsstræti, Hellusund, Skothúsvegur, Tjarnargata, Vonarstræti, Templarasund, Kirkjustræti, Pósthússtræti, Austurstræti, Veltusund, Hafnarstræti, Pósthússtræti, Tryggvagata and Lækjargata.
1.7K - shorter route: Sóleyjargata, Njarðargata, Fjólugata, Skothúsvegur, Tjarnargata, Vonarstræti, Templarasund, Kirkjustræti, Pósthússtræti, Austurstræti, Veltusund, Hafnarstræti, Pósthússtræti, Tryggvagata and Lækjargata.
Participants
The Fun Run is suitable for everyone, young and old. Runners can have a stroller or carriage however, we kindly ask to stay in the back during the start and to proceed with caution. All participants must be registered and have their bib number visible as those that do not have a bib number will not be allowed on the course. Runners are allowed to have a bib number from a different distance, if they have already finished the 10K i.e.
Refreshment stations
There is a refreshment station after the run, in front of the church, Fríkirkja with drinks from Ölgerðin.

The entry fee includes a variety of services that ensure a unique experience for the runners. Here you can find more information about the services provided on race day for all distances
Prizes
Everyone that crosses the finish line and has a bib number from the Fun Run category receives a finisher medal.
