Traffic disturbance

Due to limited parking space in the city centre and around the start/finish are we encourage participants to leave their cars at home. The police will fine all illegally parked cars.

Traffic disturbances on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th, 2024 because of the Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon

It is necessary to close streets while the Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon takes place. Drivers can also expect traffic disturbances in a few places. 

Following is information about traffic disturbance because of the Íslandsbanki Reykjavik Marathon but please note that the downtown area is also closed because of Culture night, see further at culturenight.is.

There will be one-way traffic on the following streets. Please note that the streets will close entirely for a moment when most of the runners go by.
