Bergid headspace opened its service in Reykjavik late august 2019. The main aim of the organization is to provide a low threshold mental health service for young people aged 12-25. More than 75% of mental health issues develop before the age of 25. At Bergid headspace young people are provided with holistic mental health support, with a focus on early intervention. Headspace provides low threshold access to service in a warm environment, stigma free, meeting the youth on their terms. The aim is to help them to manage their mental health and/or guide into other social, vocational or health services. Bergid headspace’s focus is on mental wellbeing and is a trauma focused service. Currently about 300 young people seek support and counselling from Bergid headspace. . Bergid headspace also provides telecommunication service for youth around Iceland and is planning to open for service for youth in different locations around Iceland for better access for all youth.
