The Bryndís Klara Memorial Fund was established to honor and preserve the memory of Bryndís Klara Birgisdóttir, who passed away following a knife attack during Culture Night in Reykjavík in August 2024.

The Bryndís Klara Memorial Fund’s purpose is to support public welfare initiatives aimed at protecting children from violence and fostering a society where empathy, collaboration, and safety are paramount.

The fund provides grants to projects that align with these goals, with an annual allocation announced on Bryndís Klara’s birthday, February 2nd. Information about the fund, can be found on www.mbk.is.

The memorial fund is registered as a public charity with the Icelandic Tax Authorities, and its board members are:

• Dóra Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir, Division Director at the Directorate of Health
