Hjördís Árnadóttir suddenly got very sick in 2011 and was admitted to a hospital shortly. It turned out that she had sepsis that led to a septic shock which resulted in her losing both her feet below the knees. She was then a single mother of three children and was sick for a long time. Her rehabilitation has taken a long time but she always, heroically, carries on. Mobility aids are absolutely necessary for her to participate fully in life and society and so it is our hope that this fund can make a difference and improve her quality of life.
