The Icelandic Lutheran Mission is a society of groups  and individuals doing mission and aid work world wide and was founded in the year 1929  SÍK (ILM)  works mainly in Ethiopia and Kenya  and also in Japan and in co work with international mission organizations in the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan. Missionaries  help people in different ways  dealing with poverty, draught, lack of health care  ect. They do all kinds of teaching, health care, nursing and different aid work such as with in agriculture, water projects and more.  In times of famine they provide extensive aid work. Here in Iceland the mission works among asylum seekers and refugees. One of the projects is offering free Icelandic classes and programs for parents with young children.
